Frederick Davies was born in Corrimal, NSW in 1892 and was a single 24 year old butcher when he enlisted. He had spent 3 years with the St George Rifles CMF.

He embarked on RMS Moldavia on 2nd October 1915 with 12th Light Horse Regiment, 6th Reinforcements . It is unclear if he spent time on Gallipoli. Frederick was admitted to hospital in Egypt on 16th February 1916 with an ingrown toenail, rejoining his unit a month later. He served in Egypt and was attatched for a time to the railway construction unit. Frederick returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 28th October 1919.

On 20th May 1920 he married Eva Tubman in Wollongong and they had 3 children. She died in 1930 and on 24th April 1934 he married Ethel Frew.
