<Sidney Rea (Service No 12727) was born around 1891. At the time of enlistment he was a single 24 year old storekeeper from Wollongong.

He embarked on HMAT A71 Nestor on 9th April 1916 with 15th Reinforcements, 1st Field Artillery Brigade. Sidney saw service on the Western Front with 3rd Field Battery arriving in France on 25th October 1916.

On 6th November 1917 he was awarded the Military Medal. Source: Commonwealth Gazette No 19, 14 February 1918. There is no information about his actions in relation to this award.

He returned to Australia on 20th April 1919 and was discharged in July 1919.
