James Fraser (Service No 2704) was born in Burnt Island, Ayrshire, Scotland around 1874.  He and his wife Rose Marie came to Australia ?????

James enlisted when he was 42 years of age and was trained as an engine fitter.

James embarked on SS Port Napier on 17th November 1916 with 4th Reinforcement, 33rd Battalion.

While on shore in Durban South Africa he injured his knee getting off a tram. This injury resulted in him serving in England due to being unable to walk without a cane. He was engaged in clerical duties and on 11th August 1918 he was promoted to Corporal.

James returned to Australia in July 1920 and was discharged medically unfit on 25th September 1920.

He died at Lidcombe in 1947.
