Patrick Kelly (Service No 1980) was born in Gerringong and was a single 25 year old baker, who embarked on HMAT A55 Kyarra with 5th Reinforcements, 3rd Battalion on 13th April 1915.

He arrived on Gallipoli on 14th June 1915 and was evacuated sick on 20th August 1915 after the severe fighting for Lone Pine. David returned to Gallipoli on 7th December and was again evacuated at the end of the campaign later that month.

Patrick went to France with his unit and was engaged in the battle at Moquet Farm when he was wounded in action on 19th August 1916 with gun shot wounds to his right ankle and foot. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment and was returned to Australia in October 1917.

After ongoing treatment for his injuries Patrick was discharged medically unfit on 15th February 1918. He died in 1958.
