Patrick Egan (Service No 1546) was born in Sydney, NSW about 1884. At the time of enlistment he was described as a single 30 year old mine deputy at Corrimal. He embarked on HMAT A49 Seang Choon on 11th February 1915 with 3rd Reinforcements, 3rd Battalion.

After training in Egypt Patrick was sent to Gallipoli arriving on 7th May 1915. He was wounded soon after and evacuated for treatment. He was on the hospital ship S S Soudan being treated for a gun shot wound to his abdomen when he died on the 25th May. Patrick was buried at sea and is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial.

Patrick had two brothers William (Service No 558) and Dennis (Service No 3020) who served and returned to Australia.
