Frank Butt (Service no 3794) was born in Albury, NSW around 1893.

At enlistment Frank was single, 21 years old, worked as a miner and lived at Helensburgh, N.S.W.  He embarked on HMAT A54 Runic with 9th Reinforcements 18th Battalion on 20th January 1916.

Frank served on the Western Front and on 5th August 1916 he was wounded in action. He was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of a gun shot wound to his elbow.

Frank was promoted to Corporal on 22nd September 1917 and then to Sergeant on 14th December 1917.

He returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged.

In 1930 he married Gwendoline MacDonald and died aged 81.

His brother Gordon (Service No 2564) was killed when serving at the Western Front in April 1917.
