Harry Bolton Humphreys
Harry Humphrey (Service No 2858) was the youngest of three brothers to enlist. He was born in Wollongong but went to school in Transvaal South Africa.
At the time of enlistment he was a single 18 year old engineer who had spent 12 months in the Senior Cadets. Harry embarked on HMAT A8 Argyllshire on 30th September 1915 with 9th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion and saw service on the Western Front. In July, 1916, while engaged in action during the battle for Poziere, Harry was killed.
He has no known grave and is remembered on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux. Harry's brothers Robert George Humphreys (Service No 591) and Garfield Humphreys (Service No 1936) also served
