Private Charles Wickham (service no. 4330) was born in Mount Kembla.

Charles enlisted in the AIF with his brother James. He embarked on HMAT A60 Aeneas with A Company 13th Battalion on 20th December, 1916. Charles served on the Western Front, and while engaged in the big push by the Australians after the German breakthrough of March 1918 he was wounded in action. On 8th August 1918 he received a shrapnel wound to his left arm.

He was returned to Australia in March 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 10th May, 1919.

On 29th November, 1919 he married Minnie Griffith and gained employment as a crane driver.
