Edward William Savage (Service No 1361) was born in Wollongong, NSW.

When he enlisted on 19 July, 1915, he was living in Western Australia and working as a miner. He was 25 years of age and single.

Edward nominated his Aunt, Mrs Hartley of Unanderra, NSW as his next of kin.

He embarked with D Company of 32nd Battalion, from Adelaide, SA, on HMAT A2 Geelong on 28th November, 1915. After arriving in Egypt he was transferred to 5th Pioneer battalion and served on the Western Front.

On 8th April, 1917 Edward was seriously wounded, receiving wounds to his head back leg and abdomen. He was evacuated to hospital for treatment and returned to Australia in August 1917.

Edward was discharged medically unfit on 10th December, 1917.
