Private Thomas Cunningham (Service no. 5073) was born in Mount Kembla and worked as a railway employee prior to enlisting in the AIF.

He embarked on HMAT A9 Shropshire with 16th Battalion, 1st Australian General Hospital on 31st March, 1916. He served with the hospital in the Middle East and France.

He returned to Australia in March 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 6th May, 1919.

In 1920 he married Ellen Sharp.

He is buried in Wellington, Western Australia.
