Herbert Cartwright (Service No 3580) was born in Northampton, England around 1889.  In 1913 Herbert married Lilly Summerson in Sydney.

At enlistment Herbert was 27 years old, employed as a miner, and lived at Helensburgh, N.S.W.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A69 Warialda with Tunnelling Company 4, Headquarters 1 on 22nd May 1916.

He arrived in England on 18th July 1916 and joined the troops in France on 30th September 1916.

Herbert was admitted to hospital sick on 29th November 1916 and had a number of further admissions due to ill health.  He was eventually deemed unfit for further active service and returned to Australia in January 1918 and discharged, medically unfit, due to bronchitis on 15th May 1918.

Herbert Cartwright was born in Wednesfield, Staffordshire not Northhampton as you have written.

Herbert served at Hill 60 for 3 months from 28 August 1916 till he was admitted to hospital 29 November 1916. On discharge from hospital he served another 11 months. On leave in England on 10 October 1917 he was admitted to Bulford Hospital...... I have a photo of him if you want a copy. I am his great niece, his brother, John, was my grandfather.
