Jenkin Rees, the son of Edward and Amelia, was born in 1892 in Wollongong. He enlisted in the A I F on the 21st of February, 1916, and embarked on H M A T Euripides with C company, 1st Battalion. He served on the Western Front and was wounded in action on the 5th of May, 1917. He received a gun shot wound to his back and was evacuated to hospital in England. He was returned to Australia in June 1918 and discharged from the A I F 10th February 1919. He died in Wollongong on the 4th of August, 1959.
