William Le Messurier (Service no 5137) was born in Hill End, NSW.   At the time of enlistment William was single,  36 years of age, employed as a labourer and had previously served 1 year with the Cadets.

William embarked on HMAT A55 - Kyarra with the 17th Battalion, 13th Reinforcements on 5 June 1916.  He arrived in England on 3 August 1916 and was posted to the 33rd Battalion joining them in the field on 30 September 1916.

William saw service on the Western Front and was injured in an accident when on a working party on 30 May 1917.  He was deemed unfit for further active service due to gastritis and medicaly invalided to Australia in December 1917.

William was medically discharged on 12 August 1918 due to a gastric ulcer. He contracted pneumonia in 1928 and died in Bathurst hospital.
