Cyril Kenneth Lee (Service No 5147) was born in Sydney, N.S.W., and attended Newington College in Stanmore, N.S.W.

At enlistment in Berry, N.S.W., with the Waratah March, he was 24 years old, single and worked as a labourer.

Cyril embarked on SS Makarini with the 1st Battalion, 16th Reinforcement, on 1st April 1916. He arrived in France on 17th May 1916 and joined the 1st Battalion in the field on 27th July 1916. Cyril saw service on the Somme and was transferred to the 1st Machine Gun Battalion on 7th December 1916. He served with them on the Western Front until the war ended. Cyril returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged on 17th August 1919.

On 21st May 1921, Cyril married Ivy Newing, and the couple raised 4 children.

Cyril died in Canterbury Hospital, Campsie, in 1931, just days before his 40th birthday.

Cyril is commemorated for his service on the Berry Roll of Honour.
