Oliver Milton McAllister
Olver McAllister (Service No 217) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland around 1883. He married Selina Bailey in Western Australia in 1905 and they had 5 children.
Oliver enlisted in Western Australia where the family was living; he was 33 years old, and worked as a hewer and bushman. Previously Oliver had served 5 years with the Irish Rifles in Illawarra N.S.W. until the unit was disbanded in 1905.
Oliver embarked from Fremantle, W.A. on board HMAT A29 Suevic with 44th Battalion, A Company on 6th June 1916 and arrived in England on 21st July 1916.
He joined 44th battalion in France on 25th November 1916 and saw service on the Western Front until 2nd April 1917 when he was killed in action.
Oliver is buried in Berks Cemetery Extension, Ploegsteert, Belgium: Row M, Grave 30.
A pension was paid to his widow and 5 children.
