Walter Clough (Service no 1925) was born in Newcastle, NSW in 1891.  Walter had been a Ward of the State from a very young age but listed his brother, Sydney, as his next of kin.

At the time of enlistment, Walter was single, 24 years of age, employed as a labourer and resided in Kiama, NSW.  He embarked on HMAT A55 - Kyarra with 4th Battalion, 5th Reinforcements on 13 April 1915 and arrived in Egypt in May 1915.

Walter was posted to Gallipoli, Turkey on 17th June 1915. He took part in the Battle for Lone Pine and was killed in action on 9 August 1915.

Walter has no known grave and is remembered on the Lone Pine Memorial.
