David Lewis Colliss (Service No 4459) was born in Wagga Wagga, N.S.W.

At enlistment he was 38 years old, single and worked as a plumber. David listed his father Abraham, in Wollongong, N.S.W., as his next of kin.

David embarked on HMAT A70 Ballarat with the 13th Battalion, 14th Reinforcement on 16th December 1915. He disembarked in Egypt and was transferred to the 54th Battalion, A Company, on 1st April 1916. He went on to France, arriving on 29th June 1916, and was sent to Fromelles. On 20th July 1916, David was listed as missing and  then as Prisoner of War. He was repatriated to England on 2nd December 1918. David returned to Australia in June 1919, and was discharged on 1st December 1919.

David died in Sydney, N.S.W., in 1929.
