Raymond Tapper Stewart (Service No 6089) was born in Bega, N.S.W., in 1897.

At enlistment he was 18 years old, single and worked as a boundary rider. Raymond had served 1 year with the Militia and listed his father, who lived in Dapto , N.S.W., as his next of kin.

Raymond embarked on HMAT A18 Wiltshire with the 4th Battalion, 19th Reinforcements, on 22nd August 1916. He arrived in England on 12th October 1916 and was sent to France on 20th December 1916. Raymond had a number of hospital admissions due to sickness but no wounding is recorded on file. He was returned to Australia in June 1919 and discharged on 28th August 1919.

Raymond died in Kiama, N.S.W., in 1959.
