Charles Henry Hunt
Charles Hunt (Service No 573) was born in Kiama, NSW in December 1893.
At enlistment Charles was single, 21 years old, worked as a deck hand and lived at Helensburgh, NSW. He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A40 Ceramic with 18th Battalion, B Company on 25th June 1915.
After arriving in Egypt, Charles was sent to Gallipoli on 16th August and too part in the battle for Hill 60. He was wounded in action sometime between 21st and 25th August 1915, and evavuated to hospital for treatment of shrapnell wounds to his right arm. Initially he was sent to Egypt for treatment, then transferred to England for treatment, but he was eventually deemed medically unfit for further active service.
He was repatriated to Australia in May 1916 and discharged medically unfit due to myocarditis, with a pension, on 16th September 1916.
In 1932 Charles married Ethel May Radcliffe in Sydney.
Charles died in 1962 and is buried in Bulli Cemetery, NSW.
