Richard Thomas Millard (Service No 654), was born in Bulli, N.S.W.

At enlistment, he was single, 18 years old, worked as a wheeler and lived in Bulli, N.S.W. Richard had served 4 years with the Cadets, and 4 months with the 37th Militia.

Richard embarked on HMAT A9 Shropshire, with Machine Gun Company 4, 11th Reinforcement, on 11th May 1917, arriving in England, on 19th July 1917. He joined his unit in France on 18th April 1918, and saw service on the Western Front until the end of the war. Richard was returned to Australia in September 1919, and discharged on 1st December 1919.

In 1939, Richard was working as a labourer, in Gladstone, Queensland, when he died.
