Ernest Parrish (Serice no 3353) was born in Kiama, NSW and went to Queensland with his family as a child.

In 1909 as a child, Ernest was hit in the right eye with a bullock whip and was blinded.

 

At the time of enlistment Ernest was single, 21 years of age and employed as a farmer in Queensland.  He embarked on HMAT A20 - Hororata with the 41st Battalion, 8th Reinforcements on 14 June 1917. 

Edward arrived in England on 26 August 1917 and made his way to France.   At this time his blindness was discovered and he was returned to Australia in May 1918. 

Edward was medically discharged on 7 August 1918.

On 9th September 1925, Edward married Minnie Jesberg in Queensland and together they had one child.

Ernest Parrish enlisted for service in WW2 on 16th June 1942 and served as Q142030 with the 1st garrison battalion until 9th October 1942.

His brothers Oliver Parrish (Service no 103) and Edward Parrish (Service no 6915) also served.
