Oliver James Wesley Parrish
Oliver Parrish (Service No 103) was born in Kiama, N.S.W, and was the first of 3 brothers to enlist.
The Parrish family moved to Queensland sometime after 1895.
At enlistment Oliver was 27 years of old, single, and employed as a farmer in Queensland.
He embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana, with the 15th Battalion on 13 May 1916.
Oliver disembarked in England on 10 July 1916, and was admitted to hospital the next day with the mumps. He joined his unit in France, on 16 October 1916.
Oliver was wounded in action on 1 February 1917, and evacuated to hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to his right arm, returning to duty on 23 September 1917.
On 18 October 1917, he was wounded again and he received treatment for a shrapnel wound to his ankle.
Whilst in hospital, in England, Oliver met with his brothers Ernest and Edward.
Oliver was repatriated to Australia in May 1918, and was discharged medically unfit on 19 September 1918.
On 3 October 1928 Oliver married Jane Smith and the couple had 3 children.
Oliver died in Brisbane, Queensland in 1959.
Oliver's brothers Ernest Parrish (Service No 3353) and Edward Parrish (Service No 6915), also served.
