Robert Paterson (Service no 9963) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland.

At the time of enlistment, Robert was single, 24 years of age, employed as a labourer and resided in Kiama, NSW.

Robert embarked on HMAT A35 - Berrima with the Field Artillery Brigade, 1 Reinforcement 13 on 17 December 1915.  He arrived in Egypt in January 1916 and was sent to France on 15 June 1916.

Robert saw service on the Western Front and was posted to 4th Division Artillery Column. 

Robert returned to Australia in September 1919. He was discharged on 16 January 1920.
