Peter Dawson (Service No 1001A), was born around 1883.

At enlistment, he was single, 32 years old, worked as a labourer and listed his father, Jack, in Wollongong, N.S.W., as his next of kin.

Peter embarked from Brisbane, on HMAT A1 Hymettus, with the 11th Australian Light Horse Regiment, 4th Reinforcement, on 17th September 1915. He arrived in Egypt on 23rd October 1915, and served in Egypt and the canal area, until he was admitted to hospital on 9th August 1916. Peter was dangerously ill, with bronchitis and pleurisy, for some time. He was repatriated to Australia in September 1916, and discharged medically unfit on 29th November 1916. Peter was awarded a pension.
