Arol Bentley Davis (Service No 3398), claimed he was born in Wollongong, N.S.W., around 1897.

He stated he was single, 19 years old, worked as a fireman's assistant and listed his father, William Davis, as his next of kin. There is a permission document signed by William and Janet Davis on file.

Arol embarked on HMAT A68 Anchises, with the 55th Battalion, 9th Reinforcement, on 24th January 1917. He arrived in England on 27th March 1917, and joined the 55th Battalion in France, on 26th October 1917. Arol saw service on the Western Front until 22nd February 1918, when he was transferred to the Australian Corps School Working Party, due to being underage.

Arol was returned to Australia in January 1919, and discharged on 24th March 1919.
