Maurice Bryan (Service no 1722) was born in the Illawarra, NSW in 1886.

At the time of enlistment in Cairns, Queensland, Maurice was a single, 29 years of age, employed as a farmer and residing in Queensland.

Maurice embarked from Brisbane on HMAT A15 - Star of England with 9th Battalion, 4th Reinforcements on 8 April 1915. He arrived in Egypt and joined the 9th Battalion, A Company in Gallipoli, Turkey on 26 May 1915 and served until the evacuation.

On 24 March 1916, Maurice was transferred to the 1st Pioneer Battalion and arrived in France on 2 April 1916 where he saw service on the Western Front.

Maurice was promoted to Lance Corporal on 1 August 1916, Corporal on 1 December 1916 and Sergeant on 20 March 1917.

Maurice was repatriated to Australia in November 1917 and was medically discharged due to his hearing and heart issues on 2 February 1918.

In 1922, Maurice married Elizabeth Gribben in Queensland.

Maurice died in Queensland in 1960.
