Cecil Spinks (Service No 2939), was born in Lismore, N.S.W.

At enlistment, he was single, 18 years old, worked as a wheeler and lived in Bellambi, N.S.W. Cecil embarked on HMAT A8 Argyllshire, with 2nd Battalion, 9th Reinforcement, on 30th September 1915. He arrived in Egypt and did not settle into military discipline. Cecil was returned to Australia, in July 1916, after being court martialed and discharged, on 28th February 1917.

In 1916, Cecil married Jessie Webster, in Lismore, N.S.W., and they had 4 children.

Cecil enlisted on 29th August 1940, as NX47473 with the 2/30th Battalion, but was discharged on 8th December 1940. He enlisted in Sydney on 9th December 1940, and served as N101248 with the 21st Works Company, until he was discharged on 16th October 1945.
