Herbert Herdman (Service No 3314), was born in Northumberland, England around 1889.

At enlistment, he was single, 27 years old, worked as a labourer and lived in Bulli, N.S.W.

Herbert embarked on HMAT A28 Miltiades, with 35th Battalion, 8th Reinforcement, on 2nd August 1917, after a period of home service. He arrived in England on 2nd October 1917, and joined 35th Battalion in France, on 21st April 1918. Herbert saw service on the Western Front and has no wounding recorded on file.

In April 1919, he was granted leave, for 3 months employment in England. Herbert returned to Australia in March 1920, and was discharged on 19th April 1920. He worked for the Department of Main Roads after the war.

Herbert died in Cobar, N.S.W., in 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Eva.
