Herbert Brindley (Service No 3350), was born in Balgownie, N.S.W., in 1889.

At enlistment, in Wollongong, N.S.W., he was single, 29 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Balgownie, N.S.W.

Herbert embarked on HMAT A68 Anchises, with 53rd Battalion, 9th Reinforcement, on 24th January 1917, arriving in England, on 27th March 1917. He joined 3rd Machine Gun Company in France, on 18th October 1917, and saw service on the Western Front. Herbert has no wounding recorded on his file. He was returned to Australia in July 1919, and discharged on 24th January 1920.

In 1921, he married Alice Roach, in Bulli, N.S.W. 

Herbert died in 1955, and is buried in Woronora Cemetery, Sutherland, N.S.W.
