Theophilus Slater (Service no 6314) was born in Newcastle, NSW.

At the time of enlistment Theophilus was single, 38 years of age, resided in Wollongong, NSW and was employed as a field assistant for Public Works.

Theophilus embarked on HMAT A14 - Euripides with the 13th Battalion, 20th Reinforcements on 9 September 1916. He arrived in England on 26 October 1916 and joined 13th Battalion in France on 3 January 1917. He saw service on the Western Front.

Theophilus was hospitalised with Trench Feet on 15 March 1917 and did not return to duty until 27 August 1917 missing the Bullecourt Battles.

Theophilus returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged on 22 September 1919.

He returned to work for Public Works and in 1920 married Mary Wonson in Sydney, NSW.

Theophilus died in 1955 in Sydney, NSW.
