William Allan McColgan (Service No 1849), was born in Renfrew, Scotland around 1887.

At enlistment he was single, 29 years old, worked as a brickmaker and lived in Corrimal, N.S.W.

William embarked on HMAT A15 Port Sydney, with 36th Battalion, 2nd Reinforcement, on 4th September 1916. He arrived in England on 29th October 1916, and joined the battalion in France, on 18th January 1917. William saw service on the Western Front until 22nd July 1917, when he was wounded in action. He was evacuated to hospital in England, for treatment of gun shot wounds to his left leg and face. He was returned to Australia in December 1917, and discharged medically unfit, on 11th June 1918.

On 19th April 1924, William married Grace McKerrell, at Bulli, N.S.W. They did not have any children.

William and Grace lived in Corrimal, N.S.W., where William was a member of Corrimal Bowling Club.

William died suddenly, in 1953.
