Francis Webb (Service no 1035) was born in Orange, NSW.

At the time of enlistment Francis was single, 26 years of age, employed as a cement miller and resided in Wollongong, NSW.

Francis embarked on HMAT A32 - Themistocles with the 17th Battalion,  C Company on 12 May 1915.  He saw service at Gallipoli, Turkey and after the evacuation was transferred to France on 23 March 1916.

On 16 September 1916, Francis was transferred to 5th Field Ambulance which was attached to the 17th Battalion.  Francis was admitted to hospital with influenza on 8 February 1917.   

Francis returned to duty on 23 August 1917 but due to ongoing health issues was transferred to 6th Motor transport Company on 22 April 1918.

Francis was returned to Australia in February 1919 and discharged as medically unfit on 23 July 1919. 

On 18 June 1920 Francis married Alva Williamson in Sydney and together they raised 3 children. 

Francis died in 1953 and is buried in Botany Cemetery.
