Thomas Lumley (Service No 6275) was born in Manly, Sydney.

At enlistment Thomas was single, 26 years old, worked as a stockman and lived at Dapto, N.S.W.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A26 Armadale with 1st Field Engineers, 15th Reinforcement on 21st March 1916. 

Thomas arrived in Egypt on 23rd April 1916 and served there until he was sent to France where he arrived on 23rd September 1916.

He joined 4th Field Company Engineers in France on 17th October 1916 and served until he was wounded in action on 10th June 1917.  Thomas was evacuated to hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to his right thigh, returning to duty on 9th November 1917.

While he was in England recovering from his wounds, Thomas married Annie Gregory on 1st September 1917 in Berkshire.  Annie and their child returned to Australia with Thomas in August 1919.  Thomas was discharged from the AIF on 25th November 1919.
