Henry Linde (Service No 364) was born in Rockhampton, Qld.

At enlistment he was single, 25 years old, worked as a miner and lived at Helensburgh, N.S.W.  Henry had served 2 years 6 months with 4th Australian Light Horse.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A8 Argyllshire with Battery 3, 1st Field Artillery Brigade on 18th October 1914 and arrived in Egypt in early December 1914.  Henry arrived on Gallipoli and served with the Artillery there.

On 27th March 1916 he arrived in France and saw service on the Western Front.  He was promoted to Corporal on 3rd November 1917, and then Sergeant on 16th September 1918.

On 18th January 1919 Henry was mentioned in despatches for duties carred out from 16th/ 17th September to 11th November 1918.

He was returned to Australia in October 1918 for Special 1914 Leave and was discharged from the AIF on 24th February 1919.

Henry returned to Queensland after the war.  On 29th December 1920 he married Rachael Madders and the couple had 3 children.

Henry enlisted for service in World War II, (Service No Q50599) and served as a Sergeant with 1st Garrison Battalion from 14th October 1940 till 21st January 1944.
