Thomas Harold Lenham
Thomas Lenham (Service No 823) was born in Clifton, N.S.W.
At enlistment Thomas was single, 25 years old, worked as a miner and lived at Scarborough, N.S.W. He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A20 Honorata with 34th Battalion, C Company on 2nd May 1916. The troops arrived in England on 23rd June 1916 and Thomas joined 34th Battalion in France on 21st November 1916.
Thomas saw service on the Western Front until 15th July 1918 when he was wounded in action and evacuated to hospital for treatment of a gun shot wound to his left hand.
He returned to Australia in May 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 12th August 1919.
Thomas married Jessie Wheeler in 1922 in Newcastle, N.S.W. and the couple had one child. The marriage failed and Jessie sued for maintenance in 1924.
Thomas died in Sydney in 1960 and is buried in Botany Cemetery.
