Richard Kinsey was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1891.  He came to Australia in 1913.

Richard was single, 24 years old, worked as a painter and lived at Helensburgh when he enlisted.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A8 Argyllshire with 2nd Battalion, 9th Reinforcement on 30th September 1915.  He arrived in Egypt in early November.

On 3rd March 1916 he was transferred to 5th Pioneer Battalion and arrived in France with them on 25th June 1916.

Richard saw service on the Western Front.  He was returned to Australia in June 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 5th October 1919.

On 15th December 1924 he married Dorothy Andrews in Helensburgh.  Richard lived in Helensburgh for the rest of his life, and died there in 1962.
