Cecil Elliott (Service No 5088) was born in Nowra, NSW and served in the Junior Cadets. 

At enlistment he was single, 19 years of age and employed as a Bricklayer in Nowra, NSW. 

Cecil enlisted with the Waratah March at Nowra and embarked on HMAT A71 - Nestor with the 1st Battalion, 16th Reinforcements on 9 April 1916.  He arrived in France on 17 May 1916 and spent time while there in hospital.

Cecil was posted to ANZAC Headquarters on 18 November 1916 and finally joined the 1st Battalion in the field on 3 January 1917 where he saw service on the Western Front.

Cecil returned to Australia in February 1918 and was discharged as medically unfit on 25 June 1918.

In 1924 he married Rose Kime and together they had one child.  Cecil and his family lived in Wollongong for some years before moving to Sydney where he died in 1967.

Cecil Elliott is remembered on the Nowra Post Office and Nowra Public School Rolls of Honour.
