Albert Eshman (Service No 1236) was born in Balgownie, N.S.W.

At enlistment Albert was single, 19 years old, worked as a miner, and had served with the C.M.F.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A72 Beltana with 30th Battalion, B Company on 9th November 1915.

He arrived in Egypt on 11th December 1915 and was transferred to 5th Division Artillery, 58th Battery on 15th March 1916.  He arrived in France on 7th June 1916 and saw service on the Western Front.

Albert had a number of hospital admissions for illness but does not appear to have been wounded.

On 27th January 1917 he was transferred to 3rd Division Artillery.

On 19th November 1918 Albert married Ada Richardson in Nottingham, England.

On 24th January 1919 he was promoted to Bombadier.  Albert returned to Australia in October 1919 with Ada and their child; he was discharged medically unfit from the AIF on 13th January 1920.

Albert died in 1978 and is buried in Beresfield Crematorium N S W. His service is commemorated on the Balgownie War Memorial.
