John Sheedy (Service No 3046) was born in Captains Flat, N.S.W. in 1895.

At enlistment John was single, 20 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Corrimal, N.S.W.  He embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A68 Anchises with 31st Battalion, 5th Reinforcement on 14th March 1916.

John arrived in France on 30th June 1916 and saw service on the Western Front.

On 13th March 1917 he was transferred to the Machine Gun Battalion and served as a machine gunner until 16th July 1917.

John was admitted to hospital with 'debility' and sent to England where he was diagnosed with tubercolosis and repatriated to Australia in November 1917.

He was discharged from the AIF, medically unfit, on 4th February 1918.

John died in Wollongong in 1964.
