John Seaward (Service No 60531) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W.
At enlistment John was 18 years old, single and worked as a grocers assistant; John had served 4 years in the Cadets and 1 year with the CMF. He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A41 Bakara with N.S.W. Reinforcement 17 on 4th September 1918.
The troops arrived in England on 14th November 1918 and John was sent to France on 22nd January 1919.
He returned to Australia in August 1919 and was discharged from the AIF.
On 5th April 1920 he married Nora Crowther in Wollongong but they were divorced in 1927.
In 1938 John married Annie Jenkins in Wollongong.
