Vincent Parkinson (Service No 877) was born in Wollongong.

At enlistment, Vincent was single, 25 years old and trained as a teacher.  Both James & his brother Vincent, embarked from Melbourne on HMAT A9 Shropshire with Anzac Cyclist Battalion Reinforcement on 11th May 1917.

Vincent arrived in England on 19th July 1917 and then joined 11th Field Engineers in France on 14th December 1917.

Vincent saw service on the Western Front as a Sapper until the end of the war.  He was returned to Australia in July 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 12th January 1920.

On 27th April 1929 he married Mary Dickson at Glebe in Sydney.

Vincent died in 1967 and is buried in Wollongong Cemetery.

His brothers James and Francis (Frank) also served.
