Edward Leplastrier (Service No 2930) was born in Sydney.  On 4th March 1916 he married Dorothy Banfield.

At enlistment Edward was 26 years old, worked as an assayer and lived at Port Kembla, NSW; Edward had served in the Militia.  He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A11 Ascanius with 56th Battalion, 7th Reinforcement on 25th October 1916.

The troops arrived in England on 28th December 1916 and Edward was sent to France on 13th March 1917.

On 5th April 1917 he was transferred to 19th Battalion, D Company and served on the Western Front until he was wounded on 3rd May 1917 during the second battle for Bullecourt.  Edward was evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of a severe gun shot wound to the head.

He was repatriated to Australia in September 1917 and discharged from the AIF, medically unfit, with a pension on 30th November 1917.

He and Dorothy had 3 children.

Edward died in Bundanoon in 1976.
