Arthur Greenhalgh (Service No 2603) was born in Woonona, NSW in 1892.

At the time of enlistment, Arthur was single, 23 years of age and employed as an engineer. Arthur embarked on HMAT A54 - Runic with 2nd Battalion, 8th Reinforcements on 9 August 1915.

On arrival in Egypt on 28 September 1915, he was transferred to the Australian Imperial Forces Headquarters in Cairo. Arthur was promoted to Sergeant on 1 October 1915.

Arthur was sent to England in June 1916 and served there until he was posted to France on 18 September 1918. He was promoted to Staff Sergeant on 6 April 1917 and selected for Officer training.

Arthur was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 29 August 1918 and then to Lieutenant on 29 November 1918.

Arthur returned to Australia in April 1919 and was discharged on 9 July 1919.

On 7 June 1919 he became engaged to Ethel Johnstone in Sydney and they married in August 1920. After the War Arthur joined the Post Office and lived in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Arthur died in Sydney in 1960.
