Charles Henry Remfrey (Service No 7072), was born in South Shields, England, in April 1889.

He came to Australia, at an early age, with his family, and they settled in the Mount Keira, N.S.W. area.

At enlistment, he was single, 26 years old, worked as a miner and lived in Mount Keira, N.S.W.

Charles embarked on HMAT A72 Beltana, with 13th Battalion, 23rd Reinforcement, on 25th November 1916. He arrived in England on 29th January 1917, and began military training. Charles joined 13th Battalion, in France, on 8th March 1918, and saw service on the Western Front. He was returned to Australia, in June 1919, and discharged on 11th September 1919.

Charles is buried in Wollongong Cemetery, Wollongong, N.S.W.
