Walter Jackson (Service No 3401) was born in Broken Hill, NSW around 1882.  In 1913 he married Lilly Petterson.

At enlistment Walter was married, 34 years old, employed as a labourer and lived in Kiama, NSW; Walter had served 18 months with the CMF.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A68 Anchises with 54th Battaion, 9th Reinforcements on 24th January 1917.  The troops arrived in England on 27th March 1917 and Walter served with the Training Battalion in England.

On 20th September 1917 he was promoted to Corporal.

A number of hospital admissions saw him repatriated to Australia in December 1918 and discharged medically unfit with chronic otitis media on 3rd May 1918.

He died in 1937 and is buried in Botany Cemetery, NSW.
