William O Neill (Service No 6367) was born in Sydney around 1893.

William was single, 23 years old, worked as a farm labourer and lived in Jamberoo, N.S.W. when he enlisted in the nearby town of Kiama.  He listed his mother as next of kin but was unable to provide an address for her.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A14 Euripides with 13th Battalion, 20th Reinforcements on 9th September 1916.  The troops arrived in England on 26th October 1916 and William joined 13th Battalion in France on 18th January 1917.

On 4th February 1917 he was wounded in action and evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of a gun shot wound to his back. William returned to duty on 10th September 1917.

On 11th April 1918 William was wounded a second time and evacuated to hospital in England for treatment of severe contusions to his back.  He returned to his unit on 18th August 1918.

He was returned to Australia in March 1919 and discharged.
