Albert Jones (Service No 527) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W.

At enlistment Albert was single, 26 years old and described himself as a bushman.

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A44 Vestalia with 12th Light Horse Regiment on 22nd June 1915.  He arrived on Gallipoli with D Squadron, 12th Light Horse Regiment on 29th August 1915.

Albert was admitted to hospital on Gallipoli with diarrhoea on 11th September but returned to duty on 29th September.  He was evacuated to hospital in Malta sick on 24th November 1915.

On 1st April 1916 he was transferred to 5th Division Artillery while in Egypt.

Albert arrived in France on 29th June 1916 and saw service on the Western Front.

On 30th July 1919 he married Ida Da Figueiredo in Cheshire, England, and she returned to Australia with him in February 1920.

Albert was discharged from the AIF on 12th April 1920.  He and Ida raised 8 children.

Albert he died in 1951.
