Lancelot Ikin (Servcie No 6433) was born in Nowra, N.S.W. in 1898.

At enlistment, he was single, 19 years old, worked as a carpenter and had served 4 years with the Cadets.

Lancelot embarked on HMAT A29 Suevic, with 18th Battalion, 18th Reinforcement, on 11th November 1916.

He arrived in England on 30th January 1917, and after training joined 18th Battalion, C Company, in France, on 28th May 1917. He was admitted to hospital due to illness on 7th July 1917, and returned to duty on 25th September 1917.

On 8th October 1917, while going into the line at Passchendaele, Belgium, Lancelot was hit in the stomach by a machine gun burst. Red Cross file evidence indicates he died at the time.

Lancelot is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, Belgium, Plot XXIII, Row C, Grave 7.
