Benjamin Saunders (Service No 1520) was born in Wollongong, N.S.W.

A blacksmith by trade, Benjamin enlisted at the age of 20; he was single and serving with the Royal Australian Garrison Artillery, and had served previously with the Cadets.

He embarked from Sydney on SS Gaika with the Heavy Artillery Group 36, Reinforcement 20 and arrived in England on 13th October 1918.

Benjamin arrived in France on 29th January 1919 and served with 2nd Siege Battery.

He was returned to Australia in July 1919 and was discharged on 26th September 1919.

Benjamin died in 1977.
