James Daley (Service No 3029) was born in Bradford, England around 1876.

James enlisted in Wollongong, N.S.W. at the age of 41.  He was single, worked as a quarryman and lived at Bulli, N.S.W.  He nominated his sister, Selina Montague, of Boston, U.S.A. as next of kin. 

He embarked from Sydney on HMAT A24 Benalla with 7th Reinforcements, 36th Battalion on 10th May 1917. Arriving in England on 19th July 1917 he was transferred to Australian Army Service Corps on 7th October 1917.  He arrived in France on 11th October 1917 and saw service on the Western Front without recorded incident.

James was returned to Australia in July 1919 and discharged from the AIF on 5th October 1919.
